1. Leadership Training
Once you stop learning, you stop
leading. In order to be an effective leader and to train
others to lead, you must balance four leadership development
concepts: planning, teaching, sharing and fellowship.
2. Senior Pastor Support
Your senior pastor’s support of
your recovery program makes it acceptable for someone to
be in recovery. It is not just “those” people anymore—it’s “
us”! If you want your recovery program to be respected
and
supported by the church as a whole, it needs to be and
act as a regular ministry of the church, not as
something separate.
3. Fellowship Events
Your recovery program needs to be out in the open, a regular
place where people in recovery can
join together, fellowship with one another, and get God’s
answer on how to overcome their struggles by His power.
With Celebrate Recovery, you’ll learn how to focus
every fellowship event to help members develop healthy
relationships that
will grow into a support team of sponsors and
accountability partners.
4. New Groups
Built around individual needs and recovery
issues, new groups act like blood transfusions in your
recovery ministry. People gain a sense of excitement and
enthusiasm when a new group starts. However, there are
pitfalls to be avoided. Learn how to build healthy small
groups that encourage and support people instead of
putting them in dangerous situations.
5. Outreach
It’s great to have a recovery program for those
who attend your church, but this isn’t just a strategy
for your
own members—it’s an outreach opportunity to connect
with
the unchurched in your community. Celebrate Recovery
provides a safe place for them to begin their journey of
stepping out of their denial and into God’s grace, as
well as
helping them to start dealing with their life’s hurts,
habits
and hang-ups.
6. Curriculum
The right curriculum is so important. Learn to
implement this curriculum that is built on God’s Word;
it can
be used in all areas of recovery; it is packaged in four easy
to use, bite-size participant’s guides. Completing
each of the
books gives a sense of progress and assurance of movement
through the steps and principles.
7. Worship
Worship is a central part of Celebrate Recovery — it’s
also a major difference between a Christ-centered and a
secular recovery program. It gives everyone an opportunity
to put aside the busyness and hassles of the world and get
in touch with the true Higher Power, Jesus Christ. Whether
you are in a small or large church, you’ll learn
how to build a
God-exalting worship experience.
